

Combine AMPORT dates, 1 tbsp. flour, water and simmer 10 minutes or until thickened. Stir in vanilla.
Combine brown sugar with 1 cup flour, soda and oats. Add melted margarine or butter gradually while stirring. Spread 1/2 oatmeal mixture in greased 12x18x1 inch pan. Cover with date mixture, then sprinkle with remaining oatmeal mixture. Pat with spoon. Bake in 375 degree oven for 20 minutes. Cool in pan. Cut into 2" squares.
